WHY have a SNO CONE DAY in FEBRUARY?
1. To raise AWARENESS and MONEY for New Hope Oklahoma.
Josh’s Sno Shack supports New Hope Okahoma, a local charity that invests in the lives of children who have a parent in prison. Josh’s believes that by investing in these children, we are giving Oklahoma NEW HOPE!
2. To give our WONDERFUL CUSTOMERS a TASTE of SUMMER!
April is just too long to wait for a delectable Josh’s shaved ice! We all need a mid-winter “pick-me-up.”

June 5th, and the bank sign is already reading triple digits.
“This heat can just sneak up on you,” said Chris Stevens of EMSA.
On Saturday, EMSA took 7 people to the hospital for heat-related illnesses.
“You really need to be hydrating yourself, that is probably one of the number one things that people don’t do enough of,” said Stevens.
But in T-town…
“Can I get extra juice on that?”
Hydration via snow cone has become a niche market. Josh’s Snow Shack has several locations, including one at 81st and Yale, and even a mobile one at LaFortune Park.
“It’s a great business its really fun,” said Stephen Fry.
A booming business that even has a following on the Internet.
“Twitter, Facebook, we have our own web site,” he said.
More than 100 people camped out in front of Josh’s Sno Shack before it opened in May.
These people, mostly teenagers, had waited all winter for shaved ice topped with a rainbow of flavors.
The sno cone shop kicked off its summer season Friday at 12 p.m at its 71st and Garnett location.
Many students in the Tulsa-area were out of school because of the Good Friday holiday. Friday was also senior skip day at Union High School.
One group told News On 6 had been waiting in line since midnight.
“It’s insane, but it’s awesome,” Josh Juarez, owner, said. “Last year we had a good crowd; this year is even better.”
Customers were given free t-shirts, pens, and bumper stickers while they waited.

A Tulsa Chick-fil-A restaurant teamed up with the owner of local snow cone stand to create massive treat on Thursday.
Chick-fil-A Eastside Market at 71st & Garnett and Josh’s Sno Shack built a 13 feet high snow cone in the parking lot of Chick-fil-A.
Free snow cones were given to those who wanted one. Chick-fil-A also gave away free hot chocolate and free chicken biscuits.

TULSA, Oklahoma — Some Tulsans are getting a much-needed taste of summer.
Chick-Fil-A and Josh’s Sno Shack teamed up to try and create the world’s largest shaved ice Thursday near 71st and Garnett.
“We’re calling it shaved ice because if you look at the records, everyone calls their’s snow cones, so we thought maybe on a technicality we can say we’re making the world’s biggest shaved ice,” Josh Juarez, owner of Josh’s Sno Shack, said.
The Sno Shack took the fresh snow, put it into ice coolers, and then shaved it. The creation stood 13-feet tall.
Organizers say they literally used tons of ice. To celebrate they were giving away free food, hot chocolate and, of course, shaved ice.
“It’s freezing, but if you dress warm it’s kinda like just playing in the snow except its got syrup…

It’s something of a snow cone phenomena how Josh’s Sno Shack has developed such a loyal following at its three Tulsa locations.
It was started in 2005 by Josh Juarez as a means to help pay for his…

While the official first day of summer is June 21st, for me summer always begins the day I eat my first sno cone.
It’s true. It’s not really summer until I’ve been satisfied with the sticky sweetness that is a sno cone from Josh’s Sno Shack.
My favorite flavor is the Boomer Sooner, of course.
However, if you aren’t as partial to the crimson and cream as I am, there are tons – I repeat, TONS – of flavors to choose from.
Just look at this list. And that’s only the half of the menu.
And if for some reason you can’t make up your mind, you can always do what Jennifer here did and go for the Josh’s Surprise. They won’t tell you what it is, but that’s okay because the ice is shaved to perfection and the…

There’s a phenomenon happening in south Tulsa.
And it’s called Josh’s Sno Shack.
I wrote about it last summer, and while the long lines to get what seemed like a simple cup of syrup-sweetened shaved ice confounded me then, they totally impress me now.
Last Friday the Josh’s Sno Shack location at 91st and Memorial opened its door-ish for the first time this season with the promise of a free Josh’s t-shirt for the first 50 customers.
